TAM COLLOQUIUM 2024

Join us for the 2024 TAM Colloquium on Thursday, January 11th from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CST.

This meeting will be a virtual event held over Zoom and will consist of two main time segments.

(1) Research updates in the field

The past year has seen a re-evaluation of the narrative around social media and youth mental health. We will share updates on these advances in the field, and existing research gaps. Attendees will have the chance to engage in discussions following presentations and consider whether they want to be part of addressing the research gaps.

(2) A youth-focused segment

Attendees will learn about ways to involve youth in research through programs, advisory boards, and internships. This segment will also include our popular youth panel to hear their perspectives on social media and youth mental well-being.

We are excited to share TAM’s 2024 funding initiative which is centered on using secondary data from our TAM Data Consortium. Through this initiative, we aim to promote new research on adolescent mental wellness and technology use. Investigators can use our available data for a secondary analysis and the travel award is intended to support the presentation of project findings at a national scientific meeting in 2024 or 2025. Up to four projects will be awarded up to $4,000 each.

Here’s how to apply:

  • Gather a group of up to 4 investigators to collaborate on this project
  • Submit a letter of intent to the TAM Program by January 3
  • Attend the virtual TAM Colloquium. You will work with your group on the project from 9:30–10:30 a.m. CST in addition to the Colloquium.

To learn more about this opportunity fill out the registration form below and we will send you the full information sheet.

This year our TAM community members worked alongside youth to write and publish an open access theme issue with JMIR-MH.

Highlights of this theme issue include:

  • Manuscripts from each of our TAM grantees describing their projects and what was learned
  • A collection of brief research papers from youth scientists
  • A commentary from youth describing their experiences with technology during the past year in the COVID pandemic

Don’t forget to tag @SMAHRTeam in your posts to connect with our team and other colloquium attendees.
